Rituals
It is an unfortunate fact of our
religion that most of us are solitary, separated by
hundreds of miles from the next Hellenic polytheist. We
are, of course, taking every step we can to remedy that
situation. For those of us who still lack a group with
which to worship, and for anyone else interested, we will
be performing simultaneous, offline rituals together when
possible. This means that a certain date will be arranged
beforehand, and everyone who wishes to participate will
perform the same basic ritual at the same time. Thus
while we are apart physically, we will be together
spiritually. See Kyklos
Apollon for an example of this
type of ritual that consistently brings together a
widespread group in simultaneous worship.
Our current official rituals
are:
Noumenia
Ritual - monthly, on the
new moon
Anadikia
Festival - annually, first
day of Hekatombaion in July
Members are encouraged to suggest
their own simultaneous rituals, of any kind. If you, for
instance, plan to be making offerings to Artemis next
Thursday, let the rest of the group know beforehand what
you will be doing and when, and invite them to join you.
This might also be an opportunity for some to meet gods
they have little experience of so far, knowing that they
will be doing their ritual in the spiritual company of
devoted followers. Rituals can be based on ancient
festivals and holy days, or entirely new inventions.
If you like, the participants can
gather together in the chatroom
afterwards to discuss their thoughts and experiences of
the ritual.
