  • Alice T. – Richfield, Ohio, United States
I’m a philosophy major currently studying classical and hellenistic philosophy. I hope to carry on to a PhD in either the classics or applied philosophy when I finish my BA in a year or two. I am currently doing research on devotionals and the shift between the classical and the hellenistic era towards more personal statues v. devotionals in the images of the Gods. I’m new to actively practicing Hellenistic Reconstruction; however, I have been studying the religion for a few years simply because of my interest in the classical era philosophy. I do not have a particular deity I feel attached to, at least not yet, and so I make an effort to respect and acknowledge as many Gods as have touched my life.

  • Briar – Ashburn, Virginia, United States
I’m 23 years old. I’ve been some form of pagan for about a dozen years (since I decided as a child that it was sad no one worshipped the Greek gods and so I should do it), and Hellenic since March of ’06. I consider myself a Hellenic Modernist – learning from what the Reconstructionists put together – with a particular relationship with Hermes.
  • Brooke – NS, Florida, United States
I don’t have a patron god or goddess (at the moment), but I am close to Dionysos, Aphrodite, and especially Selene who may or may not wish to have a patron relationship with me. I’m not sure yet. =p I’m also persuing a deeper relationship with the Muses, as I intend to have a career in writing. I am an 18 year old college student living in Florida. I intend to persue a career in writing, and perhaps one day move to Greece or Finland. Anywhere remote. =p I’m obsessed with music and literature; my favorite band at present is H.I.M. and my favorite book Epicetus’ Discourses.

I’m writing a book about worshiping Athena in a modern context: Under Her Aegis. I consider myself both a Witch and a Hellenic Reconstructionist, which often ruffles feathers. I’m in a long term polyfideltous relationship with two lovely people, one of whom, Laurelei, has gained notoriety as an author and a Priestess of Aphrodite. We run a small publishing company called Asteria Books. We live in Central Indiana with our two black cats. Basically I am a young guy looking for fellow people to worship and understand the Gods better. I was part of some Generic Pagan groups before but they lack a certain understanding how serious I am about my Gods and my reverence to them. Athene has been a big part of my life even before I discovered her as a real deity. Despite a lot of pagans coming from christian backgrounds I was more or less raised agnostic. I have ADHD. And I am eneged to a wonderful woman.

  • John – NS, Australia
To me, nature and psyche are identical. I believe the gods and goddesses are vital to all life. Everybody works out their own soul’s path though. I am not a hard polytheist, but I believe in the power of ritual and how it allows us to form relationships with that which is higher than ourselves, more all-encompassing than our everyday experiences. Hellenismos really appeals to me – the concept of kharis is beautiful and the Greek myths have been with me since childhood. I am particularly drawn to Hermes, Artemis, Pan, Apollo, Dionysus and Psyche. Gods and goddesses are real – it’s just the nature of that reality that remains a mystery to me. My way of being with this is to explore psyche’s realm. Another way is to explore a realm of the gods that is independent of the human psyche. Always though, the gods are still there!

I have finally seen the light of Hekate Phosphoros after years wasted going through empty Wiccan motions. My practice began less than a year ago, and I have been reading historical and scholarly sources slightly longer than that. Marrying and becoming a father led me to grow up and get serious, but it was the Homeric hymn to Demeter that truly brought me home. I have a little girl, and it really struck a chord with me (wouldn’t Pythagoras be proud). I daresay it resonated with me. If you will still have me after these bad puns I would be much obliged.

Despite still feeling new to it all I am constantly attempting to better myself as a worshipper of the Gods. I would say I am a semi-reconstructionist, learning from the past in order to bring my worship into the light of today.

I also work with Bast since I have a houseful of kitties (5). I’m married and we just got our first house in May 2010, so can’t wait for spring so I can do some things outside and have a small garden and try to put together an altar outside in the back. • Nicole Mazza – Cumming, Georgia, United States
I am somewhat new to Hellenic Polytheism as a spiritual path as I have only been concentrating on it for the last 6 months or so. My background has been primarily based around Artemis as my patron deity since my youth – it just happened that only somewhat recently did I discover modern worship of the Hellenic pantheon. I went through several spiritual paths to find this one, generally attempting to incorporate Artemis in some form, before finding this path – which is, of course, the most obvious one for Her. So, now I am trying to get more active in the Hellenic pagan community, which has led me to not only start a Y!group called “se_hellenes” (Southeast Hellenes), but to also work towards setting up a local ritual group. I look forward to meeting more Hellenic Polytheists, both in my area and elsewhere!

Hekate is the mighty goddess on whose cosmic hem I hang. A great deal of my spiritual journey has been a transformative, winding road toward Her mysteries. I originally began studying and practicing Hellenic polytheistic reconstructionism in order to grow closer to Her. I joined Neokoroi to honor the Gods, serve the community, and network with others who hold similar beliefs. My wanderings and the wonders I see can be found athttp://wanderingwomanwondering.wordpress.com
